What is Mammotome?
(VABB Vacuum Aspiration Biopsy)

It is a procedure that primarily involves the examination of breast tissue through vacuum suction for certain lesions in the breast, but can also include the removal of lumps (nodules).

Mammotome Surgical Procedure

Insert the tube of MammoTom.

Position the needle close to the lesion in the breast.

A vacuum is used to pull the breast tissue into the groove.

The tissue in the groove is removed with a rotating blade.

The tissue is removed from the body.

The needle leaves very few marks,
less than 3mm.

Precautions after Mammotome surgery

Wear a surgical bra or compression bra for 2 to 3 days after the procedure.
Refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking for approximately 3 days after your procedure.
Avoid strenuous exercise for one day (24 hours).
Bruising and lump of the skin may occur, but these are natural hematomas that occur after surgery
and will gradually disappear over time.
Do not take aspirin or any other medications that interfere with blood clotting for 3 days.
